Rachel is very pleased announce her 2014 House Concert Tour, "From Your TV to Your Living Room!" If you are interested in booking Rachel in your home, please contact rachelpotterbooking@gmail.com. Below you will find many frequently asked questions!

WHAT IS A HOUSE CONCERT?

A house concert is a new phenomenon in the music industry that independent artists are gravitating towards rapidly. Because it is incredibly expensive to tour, and is very hard to guarantee bars or music venues that you can bring in a certain amount of people outside your area, this is a much better alternative. These intimate concerts provide an exciting opportunity for both artists and fans alike to have a shared music experience, and allow the artist to play for the fans without worrying about selling enough tickets. Without a label or big name, many artists find it hard to tour music venues and make any kind of sustainable profit for their career and lives. By removing the venue third party, you are basically buying the artist directly, or “wholesale,” if you will!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT A HOUSE CONCERT?

At most house concerts, you can expect a small crowd of around 50 people if done acoustically, with no amplification (so that everyone can hear) or if there is a PA system, as many people as the house can accommodate can attend. There is usually a small spread of food and drinks to create a warm, relaxed and hospitable atmosphere for the guests. The homeowner may open up the concert to the community and artists fans in the area, or may keep it private for just their friends and family.  The artist will mingle with the guests pre show, a local performer may or may not perform as an opening act, the artist will perform for around an hour to an hour and a half, and then post show will spend the remainder of the evening spending time with the guests for as long as the party goes on. The artist will sell merchandise, sign CD’s, take photos with guests and tell stories of their music and career. With this model, guests leave feeling not only satisfied that they witnessed a great night of music, but also a developed newfound friendship with the artist. It’s more than just a concert, its an experience.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO PROVIDE?

The house - We must see photos of the space to make sure it will be a comfortable atmosphere for a concert. Usually a living room, den or large living space work best. It can be done in the backyard, or back porch, but usually require some amplification for outside settings.

The guests - You may invite whoever you would like to the concert. Think of it as your own music venue, and you're the owner! You can open it up to your community and allow Rachel to advertise the show on her website and social networks. Then, any other fans of hers in the area may also attend. Or you may keep it a private event and limit it strictly to your guest list.

The food and beverage - It will be up to you to set the tone for the concert. You can ask the guests to participate in a potluck dinner and BYOB, or provide all the food and drink yourself. You can have a full dinner served, or just finger foods and cocktails - whatever you feel is appropriate. Remember - it’s your venue, so make it yours!

The opening act (OPTIONAL) - If you would like to include an opening act to the concert, you are free to invite a local act, or acts, that you love, to join the evening’s line up! If you would like to pay the additional acts, you would need to take care of that exchange separately from your guarantee with Rachel.

WHAT WILL RACHEL PROVIDE?

Rachel will take care of all of her own travel and lodging bookings. She will arrive early to your home the day of the concert to help set up and talk you through the night. She will bring her own guitarist/backup singer (Chase Peacock), merchandise, CDs, and arrange for a PA system if needed. She will show up ready to provide a special evening of music and memories for you and your guests that will last a lifetime. She will be prepared to sing a full set of her original country music, favorite cover tunes, and broadway favorites. You can request her set to reflect whatever your favorites are!

WHAT DAYS OF THE WEEK ARE BEST TO BOOK?

Rachel is available to perform on any day of the week, but generally weekends work best for guests with 9-5 jobs. You and Rachel can work out which date works best for you both, and put it on the calendar!

DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO BOOK RACHEL?

Yes. As aforementioned, it costs a lot of money to tour. What we have found is that in order to provide this unique experience for you and your guests, and to make it worthwhile for Rachel, she must have a guaranteed amount that she will be paid for the concert. The fee varies, dependent on the location, but there must be a guarantee of at least $2,000. Additional fees will be added to the guaranteed price for different regions of the country based upon travel and lodging expenses. This fee will be negotiated for each individual interested in booking! The southeast will normally remain at $2,000, assuming it is a reasonable drive for Rachel from Nashville, TN. If a flight and rental car is needed, the rate will increase slightly to accommodate the price. Generally, the Northeast and Central part of the country is $2,500. Due to higher flight prices, the West will increase to $3,000. Rachel is completely willing to travel outside the US, however, the guarantee will have to increase to match the higher travel expenses to fly internationally.

CAN I CHARGE MY GUESTS FOR THE SHOW TO OFFSET THE FEE?

YES! Legally, you cannot ask your guests to buy a ticket. But you can ask for a donation from each person in attendance. In asking for a donation, you can make your money back, or even make a profit! This would all depend on how many people attend and how much you choose to charge for a donation. It will be up to you to set a donation price that you feel is appropriate and that suits you and your guests.
